CITY Advent: Day 3
Sled
Day three of the "Snow" theme - and already the cracks are starting to show in LEGO's gameplan. While the first two days were pretty good - a minifigure and a nice multi-piece build - today' offering is pretty weak.
Five small and common parts make a small Sled for Day 1's minifigure to enjoy. If LEGO continues their established Advent tradition of "three days for each sub-theme", we're leaving our winter wonderland on a downturn.
I refuse to be too gloomy, though. Taken as a whole, this first sub-theme was just what I would hope to see in an Advent calendar. A nice winter feel to the toys, and as a group a fun day spent outdoors for our little mini-figure. This is miles ahead of some of the sub-themes we've seen in the past like Criminals and Oil Drums.

Remember the Skimobile from last year? This sled is it's son.
I sorta liked this when I built it. I combined it with last year's skimobile, and called it Santa's equivalent of a motorcycle. :P
And hey, it's not as bad as day three of last year. Ugh...
Goodness gracious, I'd forgotten how bad last year's Day three was until I checked back (though the Castle was better): http://www.flickr.com/photos/25310960@N03/3080668709/
Still, I thought the skimobile was overbuilt - it was just too big to sled effectively. Can you imagine carrying that back up the hill?
