Episode 815

Read the comic here.

I was kind of shocked to see that Gateway computers was still in business. You never hear from them these days....

I've been looking for an excuse to use that cow ever since I broke down and bought the Farm set earlier this year.

More Bionicle Stars Photo Reviews

Part of my Black Friday shopping was to stop at Toys R Us at 2:30 in the morning. They didn't have much of anything new (beyond the 2010 leaks I've already reviewed) so I consoled myself by picking up two more of the Bionicle Stars canisters. Since this is the last wave of Bionicle (LEGO has discontinued the theme) I figured I'd pick up the white and black offerings - the two colors I'd usually buy from each wave anyway.

I also picked up a couple of earlier 2009 sets while out shopping, but I don't know how much interest there'd be in my reviewing those. I should probably work on getting ahead on the comic instead...

To continue the story from Young!Whiskey's perspective, jump back to Episode 18 and start reading all over again.

To follow the continuing adventures of Whiskey and Scotch, tune in tomorrow. As is the Reasonably Clever tradition, I'm shooting for daily updates now through Christmas. Wish me luck, and thanks for reading.

Pimp My Wheelchair - WINNERS

It's time to announce the winners of the Pimp My Wheelchair contest!

There were a ton of great entries - choosing one over another was a pretty tough task. But we did it. Because we love you.

There were three themes to build in...here are the results for each! You can click on the images to be taken to the entry grids for each theme.

In addition, there were two "Judge's Awards" for our personal favorites...

Congratulations to the winners, and our hearty applause to all who participated!

Episode 811

Happy Thanksgiving to my readers in the USA - and good luck to those of you who will brave the crowds tomorrow morning in the quest for LEGO sales and deals. I'll probably be out there with you...

Today's strip introduces Scotch's new Universal Translator. Frankly, it's just an author's helper - I got tired of always having to have Scotch on a Mech to let him talk. Besides - what's the fun of dipping your toe into the sci-fi realm without coming back with an impossible device or two?

You can't really see it in the strip, but Young!Whiskey is contained in the same sort of stasis cell that held Old!Whiskey back in the Brick House's med lab. It's not a plot point - just a reuse of a build I had lying around.

Yes, Even more set reivews

I stopped at TRU on the way home, hoping to find new Atlantis sets. No go there, but they did have a couple of other items back in stock.

And! Didja hear? The Bionicle Stars line is IT. LEGO has discontinued the theme after these six figures. I have mixed feelings about that...particularly since the replacement theme is kicking off with the less-than-amazing Ben 10 theme.

Episode 809

I had Donut's line as "I brought everyone some cocoa" before I realized he would have made it himself. Poor guy hasn't had a chance to cook in-strip for a long time.

Thirteen's thoughts in panel two were unscripted - there was something about how he was looking sadly into his cocoa that needed further exploration.

Even more Set Review photos

It's a sickness. I had those $5 off coupons and I had to at least try and use them.

So here are three more set photo reviews for everyone...

(Yes, the set name is "Bad". And it is sorta lame at that.)

Of course, now I'm out of cash. And the Atlantis theme is supposed to launch in full on the 24th. Dangnabbit.

The central part of Whiskey's latest round of life support gear is a helmet from the new Atlantis sets. It really is a sweet new piece.

New Set Reviews on Flickr

While you're waiting for today's comic, take a bit and explore some of the new 2010 sets I found at Toys R Us in Troy, Michigan today. I've taken a bunch of photos and posted them out to my Flickr photostream.

Also of note, they were handing out LEGO Santa Mini-fig keychains with a $5 off $20 LEGO purchase coupons at the check out lanes. Don't know if that's a chain-wide promotion or not. The coupons expire on 11/21/09.

Episode 802

On the road today, so it'll be late tonight before today's strip is hooked up correctly. But, as usual, you can read it now by following the link above.

I've had that torso lying around for Mary Sue to use for years; it's good to see it finally get some use.

Also, the final culling of the cast starts with this strip - can I get everyone off-stage before I run out of November?

Episode 801

Read the comic here.

You can see why Fox and Wash have been together so long. Fox provides the energy (sometimes in the form of complete freakouts) and Wash provides the calm voice to balance the chaos. Being undead has its perks, apparently.

(And, yes, I realize Zoe/Wash has a similar dynamic. Only steal from the best, I say.)

Pimp My Wheelchair - Even MORE Prizes!

We're entering the final days of the Pimp My Wheelchair contest. We've had some really nice entries so far, and I'm sure we'll see a rush of new contestants at the last minute as usual. But right now it's still anyone's game.

There are three categories to enter, and great prizes to be had. Special "best of" prizes include a Pirate Advent Calendar for the best North American Build, and a Chromtastic Prize pack for the best Non-NA entry.

And, just to tempt you into building, Louise has once again upped the overall prize pool!

Every prize winner will also receive a Tranquility Base printed 1x8 brick, of which there are only 17 in existance :shades:

Yes that's printed, not a sticker! A truly cool addition to the prize pool!

So what are you waiting for? Go BUILD SOMETHING!

Binky addresses occasional-reader concerns. Fox addresses typical maternal instincts. Will any good come of this?

Ah, Episode 552, October 31st, 2008. Agent 13's first appearance. Amazing the places we've gone in the past year.

Episode 796

Read the comic here.

Tony's original line was "How's it going in there Daddy-o?" but I figured the direct reference to yesterday's "put on the Daddy Pants" line was a better callback.

It's been mentioned before, but Zombie Wash isn't Wash from the Whedonverse - he's a cosplayer who dresses up like Wash and became a zombie in completely unrelated circumstances.

Episode 795

The crowd shot in panel two gives you a good idea why you don't always see everyone in the background. When the cast is assembled, there are a LOT of characters to deal with.
